Listed below are the various Departments in our Church, each Chaired by one, or more, of FCC's valuable "movers and shakers" - without whom we could not complete our many missions in serving Christ. If you are seeking an "Opportunity To Serve" your Church, simply pick your area(s) of interest and/or skill. Then take the plunge by contacting the Chair. If he/she doesn't have "an opening" right now, odds are that a new one will be created!.
Administration: Our Church Administrator keeps everything running smoothly. She is the focal point for lots of activities; performs most the computer and paper work; answers the phones; answers inquiries; prepares all printed materials; and generally helps facilitate behind-the-scenes operations here at FCC. Volunteer help is always welcome (on Wednesday mornings) with the preparation/mailing of our newsletter, “The Harrison Christian”. Help is also needed to "man/woman the phones" during Karon's vacation days. CONTACT: Karon Pierce, 741-5757 or fccharrison@windstream.net

Audio/Visual: Qualified audio/visual technicians, or individuals interested in becoming one, are always in demand to support our Audio/Visual operations during worship services and special events. Last year we remodeled our facilities in the Contemporary Worship Area by adding a 48 channel mixing sound board, plus thirty two 64 par can lighting and a controller. We also installed 4 projectors, three connected with “Triplehead2Go” technology, and installed dual computers - one with text overlay and the other with video backgrounds. Our Christian Education team is also responsible for Vacation Bible School; selecting and ordering curriculum and materials for Sunday School Classes, Wednesday Night Fellowship, and Sunday evening youth activities; helping to finance camps and conferences for our children and youth; helping to purchase supplies for our Church Library; and helping Dr. D when he holds introduction classes for adults, children and youth interested in joining our Church. Library: At last count there were over 3,000 Christian books in our Library, all available for use by members of our Congregation. So, when you need an uplifting Christian book to read, don’t spend your hard-earned money on “the latest” being advertised. Instead, stop by and check out one (or more) of the “oldies but goodies” here on our shelves. Remember, “The Message” never changes!

Property: Although FCC is blessed with an excellent facility in which our Church family thrives, like any family’s home it often needs care. Our Maintenance Staff is responsible for day to day items, but when it comes to everything else (from painting stripes in our parking areas, fixing a leak in the roof, maintaining our lawn and gardens, purchasing new equipment/furnishings – you name it) our Property Team takes very good care of it. CONTACT: Dick Henry, 741-4692 or henrydp@cox.net)
Stewardship/Finance: The Chair of Stewardship/Finance works with the financial officers of our Church to: monitor receipts and expenditures; ensure that our Budget is properly implemented; review financial statements and reports; and oversee the Tellers and their procedures. Currently Greg Satterfield Chairs this committee.
Social Action: This committee seeks to identify ways and means, in addition to the above mentioned cash donations, in which our Church can help the needy people in our area. One of our major annual projects is a food drive for Share & Care Food Drive. During the past four years, FCC's Share & Care Food Drives have resulted in 2,600, 3,400, 5,300 and 13,000 pounds of food being donated to that fine community service organization. As members we can take comfort in the fact that First Christian Church has proven, time and again, that we truly are “a giving Church”. In fact, our Church’s motto was already “Share and Care” long before we helped give birth to that stellar home-town institution on the bypass. Today, via our Social Action ministry, we annually donate 4% of our budget (over $17,000 in 2009) to four key community organizations (Boone County Adult Day Care, K-Life, Sanctuary and Share & Care) plus a number of others. Then we also conduct annual “drives” to further assist community organizations such as the Ozark Humane Society. Additional thousands of dollars, plus goods and services (including “sweat labor”) are also channeled to about 30 charities, service organizations and individuals by our various in-Church groups (such as Sunday School classes, our Youth & our Women’s and Men’s Disciples).
Transportation: A dedicated crew of volunteer drivers, from our Congregation, take turns - a month at a time - responding to anyone who needs transportation to Church. The crew consists of Keith DePriest, Harold Bilke, Charles Adair and Leon Young - the de facto leader. Whenever any member(s) of our Congregation need "a lift" for any reason, these gentlemen (and our Church vans) are willingly at your service. CONTACT: Leon Young, 741-4334
World Outreach:. Globally, First Christian Church's World Outreach ministry represents our world-wide response to Jesus' passionate instructions to "Feed my sheep" (John 21:15-17) and his words "I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these my brothers of mine you did for me" (Matt 25:40). As the cornerstone of our World Outreach ministry, FCC annually donates 12% of our budget to our denomination's Disciples MIssion Fund. Currenly Richard and Cova Hart are Chairs of this committee.
Worship: The Worship Committee is a very active team that is responsible for the order and content of all three worship
services at our Church. The committee is responsible for planning all special services such as Palm Sunday, Easter Sunday, Hanging of the Greens and Christmas services. For Ash Wednesday, Easter and Christmas the sanctuary and contemporary worship areas require special decorations for which the Worship Committee is responsible. The committee does not meet on a regular basis - only as needed. The committee answers to the Worship Chairperson who must attend all Cabinet and Board meetings; conduct all committee meetings; prepare the budget for the upcoming year; and prepare a summary of the activities that have occurred during the year. The Worship Chairperson also attends Steering Committee meetings for both our traditional and contemporary services. The key to the Worship Committee functioning well is communication, open and often, between every member of our Church. CONTACT: Carlene Bilke, 743-4083 or cbilke@cox.net
