Dedicated members of our Congregation are each elected to serve a three year term as a Deacon. The list of our current Deaconss (with their ending year of service in parentheses) can be found in the 2012 Board.
The Responsibilities of A Deacon
1. Serve for a three year term or to fill an unexpired term.
2. Serve Communion and collect offerings during each Sunday Worship service in the months you have been assigned. Secure someone to serve in your place in your absence or contact the leader of your group.
3. First year Deacons will prepare Communion for one month in the month assigned as noted on the Communion Preparation Schedule.
4. Assist Elders with Homebound Communion. See Homebound Communion Schedule for your assigned month(s).
5. Assist with Baptisms.
6. First service Deacons will assist with various duties following first service during the months you are serving as a Deacon.
7. Assist at special services.
8. Attend scheduled Board meetings.

"The Deacons, in cooperation with functional departments, shall cooperate with the Elders in promoting the
growth and welfare of the Church; assist in the greeting and ushering of the worshippers; distribute the
Lord’s Supper and receive the offerings; prepare the Communion service; minister to families in times of
sickness and bereavement; assist in financial canvasses, visitation projects and preparation of
candidates for Baptism, give counsel and service in the business affairs and program activities of the
Church; cooperate in ministering to the needy; and perform such other duties as may be assigned".
