pic ELDERS

Dedicated members of our Congregation are each elected to serve a three year term as an Elder. The list of our current Elders (with their ending year of service in parentheses) can be found in the 2012 Board.

The Responsibilities of An Elder

1. Be committed to ongoing Spiritual Growth

Elders are committed to growing in the9ways: prayer, study, worship, fellowship, service, giving, sharing our faith, showing compassion, and spiritual honesty.

Elders are encouraged to meet for support and encouragement with one to three others of their own choosing in order to help them stay on track in their Spiritual Growth.

2. Oversee Communion

Elders serve at the Communion table with a devotional and a prayer, and give an offering meditation and prayer.

Elders take Communion to retirement homes and shut-ins on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month.

3. Give Guidance

When our Church faces a difficult or controversial issue, the elders may need to arrive at a recommended course of action.

In the event that our Church needs to move in a timely fashion on an issue, Elders need to be willing to meet as often as necessary.

    4. Be Active in the Church

Attend regularly scheduled monthly Elder and Board meetings.

Participate in a Sunday School class.

Serve on a Committee – each Church Committee must include at least one Elder.

    Attend Worship regularly.

5. Show Compassion

Assist as needed with visitation to the sick, homebound, and nursing homes.

Read the joys and concerns in our Worship services.

6. Share in the common vision of the church as set forth in the following documents:

example and word the missionary, evangelistic, educational and stewardship responsibilities of the

Church; serve at the Lord’s Table; and perform such other duties as may be assigned".
