MICHELLE SCHNEIDER is living proof, yet again, that God indeed works in mysterious ways and that He will produce some good out of even the most tragic situations. Witness the fact that, as the result of Katrina, Michelle (a native of New Orleans) relocated to our wonderful corner of His world and has now become the newest member of First Christian Church. Her four older children have already “flown the coop” and now live in various other Southern states, but their Mom chose to live in the best one. Michelle “found” FCC at Harrison’s Elks Lodge – in the person of our own Joe Bass – and she now regularly attends our 11AM Fellowship Service. A dedicated, passionate fan of her undefeated (at the time of this interview) New Orleans Saints, she also finds |
time for various volunteer duties at NARMC and with the Elks. While “not so far” a member of a Sunday School class Michelle will likely join one once she “gets settled”. Please welcome Michelle to our Church family (985)-445-3303 or bayouaber@mail.com). |

You’ll have no problem locating ROGER WILLIAMS, FCC’s newest member, on a Sunday morning. Pop in to our 11AM Contemporary Service where he will be the only person you’ll find sitting in a plastic “cage” (surrounded by a set of drums which are, in turn, surrounded by seven (7) microphones) and wearing two (2) sets of headphones – one to hear the rest of our Praise Band/Singers and the other playing a recorded metronome to help Roger maintain “the beat”. FCC’s Praise Band/Singers were already very good before Roger Williams and his drums appeared on our scene. Now, since this talented percussionist has been “backing” them, they’ve progressed to being really great. Seems that when Dr D put out the call for a local drummer, Danny Roth (bless his heart) recommended Roger, who had previously performed for a number of Churches. He now |

| happily calls First Christian his Church home because he “…has fun playing with people who already seem like family at a venue so forgiving of an occasional musical mis-step”. Roger moved to Harrison way back in the 50’s, graduating from HHS with the likes of Marcille Lawrence and Marilyn Mathis. Following a stint of living in “off” he returned to his senses, and Harrison, in 1989. Today Roger works at High-Tech Pest Control. His daughter Heather Blackwell and her family also joined FCC recently. FCC’s drummer can be reached via his cell at 715-7700 or you could visit with him in his “cage” and ask him a question or two about drums. You’ll be fascinated. | |

BRADLEY MACKEY III and his wife SARA joined FCC’s Church family recently – and brought along their energy-packed son, IAN, who is now 2+. Sara and Bradley have already visited a few of our Sunday School classes, and they are already teaching our Wednesday evening Kindergarten and 1st Grade class. They first spotted one another in college (GA Tech) where they were also introduced to our denomination via a DOC college ministry program. Bradley has a fine sense of humor (“I got my hair done especially for this photo op”) and volunteered some choice put-downs about Tech’s archrival, U of GA, similar to how we U of AR fans feel about the infamous U of TX. The Mackeys, plus Bradley’s parents, relocated here from GA about a year ago. He now works at Coleridge, alongside Pam Henry (FCC’s talented “local evangelist” at that fine company). The Markeys also accepted Pam’s invite to take a look at , |
FCC and thereby they found themselves a new Church home. Sara doesn’t have much spare time - her full time job is Ian. Bradley devotes some of his spare time to rock climbing. They both enjoy an occasional fishing trip – and then bragging on “catching our limit” for the day. These FCC newbies can be found in our Contemporary Service on Sunday morning or they can be reached at 743-4767, saramackey@gmail.com or jmackeyiii@gmail.com. Please let the Mackeys know we’re happy and proud to have them here with us at FCC. |

Relatively new member HEATHER BLACKWELL (743-7003 and jiljayne@yahoo.com) is pictured here with her daughter MILLIE (18 months) and her daughter AMY (18 years) following our Contemporary service last Sunday. A native of Springfield, MO, Heather has lived here in Harrison for 20 years and works at Claridge Products - alongside FCC “veteran” Pam Henry. Heather has not yet selected a Sunday School class yet but “…is considering one”. She is also the daughter of FCC’s excellent drummer, Roger Williams. Also welcome SETH LEE (not pictured). Seth, Harrison-born, is Heather Blackwell’s son and he also is employed at Claridge. |

Pictured here are the two reasons why FCC’s own Danny Roth grew up to be such a good Christian guy. JIM and JOEY ROTH recently took Danny up on his invite(s) to join our Church family and can now, of a Sunday morn, be found in our Traditional service. The Roths also have two other sons who live in Fayetteville and Kentucky. Joey is Tulsa-born and Jim hails from Stuttgart, AR. They moved to Harrison in 1971. College was where they first came upon one another. Happily retired now, Jim’s career was in Retail Management and during it he ran three different J. C Penny stores around the country. When asked if she had any special talents she might use at FCC, Joey looked doubtful for a moment…but then smiled and exclaimed “I love to cook!” Our Hearthstone class has already laid claim to the Roths, but don’t let that stop you from greeting Jim & Joey on Sunday or contacting them at 743-7814 or jjroth1@cox.net to say “Hey, all y’all”. |
EARLENE AND KEN WRIGHT were born and raised over in Carroll County but moved to Harrison way back in the 1960’s. Now retired, they both created successful business careers here in town – Earlene in the gardening “field” where she used to operate Rock Springs Gardens and Ken in the ironworks business at the Wright Steel Company. The Wrights have grown children, living here in Harrison as well as Conway, and they have also been blessed with 8 grandkids. Both Ken and Earlene lent a hand in “running” FCC even before they officially joined our Church – Earlene by assisting with some Church decorating “opportunities” and Ken as a key player, literally, in Dr. D’s BGM (Blue Grass Ministry). As part of that “best-in-the-area” ministry Ken is continuing to demonstrate his life-long love of music while Earlene spends a lot of her free time in her extensive gardens on their farm. The Wrights attend our Traditional service (they can be found at the rear, left) or can be reached at 741-3318. Please welcome them to FCC and tell them a bit about why your Sunday School Class should be the next one they visit in their search to call one theirs. |

RANDALL AND TRUDY ARMSTRONG hail from OK and LA respectively. They come to FCC from Baton Rouge where they were also members of a FCC (DoC) Congregation. With Randy approaching retirement (from his career in Property Management) they knew they wanted to get out of the Big City and return to a small town life style. Proving, yet again, how God works in mysterious ways, they had friends in Baton Rouge whose neighbors relocated to Harrison some 18 years ago and never stopped bragging about our little town. So, the Armstrongs came to see for themselves, “between two ice storms”, and the rest is history. Trudy, an RN, joined the staff at our new Hospice House. When not working she and Randall enjoy outdoor activities such as gardening and fishing. They share 6 grown children who are living in LA, TX and FL. Randall and Trudy can be found on Sunday mornings in our 11AM Contemporary service (center aisle, midway, left side) or reached at 741-6367 or trudyrn@cox.net. AND they are still seeking a Sunday School class to call their own. Please give them both a great big small town welcome! |
JOEY and MARVIS PAUL were born and raised in our beautiful corner of this world so they are probably already known to some in our Congregation. Marvis once attended the Christian Church in Olvey and, if pressed, will even admit to FCC veteran Jerry Jones being her brother. Joey has begun to enjoy retirement (if a farmer can ever really retire) while Marvis is employed at Coffman Funeral Home. The Pauls now live a good 8 miles out Hwy 62 East of town – which we all know means “they’re from off” – but we’re still certainly pleased to have them as new members of our Church family! Both are avid gardeners, plus Joey “has his horses”. God also blessed their union with two girls – now grown – one who lives out West a ways, in Rogers, while the other lives way, way West of here in Hong Kong, China. The Pauls can be found in our 9AM Traditional service (“their” seats are in the 2nd to last pew, center aisle, left side) or contacted at 743-1639 or jmpaul@windstream.net. If you’ve not already done so, please let them know they’re welcome at FCC. By the way, the Pauls do not yet attend a Sunday School class. |

JOHN & ELIZABETH MARSEILLES - Pictured here are new members of our Church family, John & Elizabeth Marseilles, plus their three children: Halle (5), Wilson (13) and Jackson (10). Elizabeth is a Harrison native (“My grandparents came to this Church”) and has many relatives in the area. She and John met while students at Oral Roberts University. Marriage soon followed and then, just two weeks after Wilson’s arrival in this world, the Marseilles packed up and moved to Harrison. John, a native of Edmond, OK, is employed at the local office of Edward Jones Investments. Wilson is already active in Sunday and Wednesday FCC youth activities and his parents are members of our “Mustard Seed” class. The whole family has homesteaded in our Contemporary Service where they can be found mid-way down the aisle, on the left. Stop by and meet them some Sunday morn or help them feel welcome at FCC via 743-6182 or jemarseilles@cox.net.
JO ANNA and WALTER CARTWRIGHT - Jo Anna, pictured here with two grand daughters (Christina and Rebecca) joined FCC recently – as did her husband Walter who is now – unfortunately – in a nursing home, a victim of Alzheimers.
Jo Anna comes to us from the Christian Church in Olvey, the town where she was born. Now a resident of Valley Springs, for some 50 years, Jo Anna works here in Harrison at NWAEED where she manages their Transportation Department (58 vehicles – including Harrison’s “trollies” – and the folks who drive them to serve the needs of others in a 9 County area).
She and her husband had 5 children, one of whom has sadly passed. Of the remaining, one lives nearby in Valley Spring, another up in Nixa, a third in Little Rock and the last way down in Louisiana. Some of our older members might remember Jo Anna & Walter from “way back in the late 50’s” when they attended FCC for a time. Today Jo Anna and family can be found each Sunday morning attending our Contemporary Service where “their” seats are to your right about half way down the center aisle. Christina has joined our Children’s Church and Rebecca is active in our Sunday evening youth group. Jo Anna can be reached at 870-429-6276 or by email at jcartwright@nwaedd.org. Please let her know how happy we all are that she and her family have chosen First Christian as their new “Church home”. (PS to All Sunday School Classes: Jo Anna says she is “still thinking about” which one to join. Also know that Jo Anna, as with all new members, has been counseled to review what each class offers by visiting their Web Page at www.fccharrison.com. So, if you belong to one of FCC’s 3 classes that still does not have its very own page…
DOTTIE HOPPIS joined FCC back in October and was Baptized here on January 5th. Although she has lived in our area since 1979, she fully understands that she will always be “from off” – in this case, Mississippi. After listening to her good friend Clara Sims often talk about our Church, Dottie “followed her heart” and readily accepted Clara’s invite to come and fellowship with us. She has worked at Windstream for 9 years: lives in Harmon (where her husband Mike is a poultry farmer); and they have two grown boys. Dottie also has THE best grand-daughter in the whole-wide-world, with THE best grand son scheduled to arrive in March. Our own Jill Miller, another good friend, describes Dottie as being “patient beyond words”. Dottie is already a member of our Christian Crusaders SS Class and can be found greeting and passing out Bulletins for our Contemporary Service. Please intro yourself to Dottie in person or via 870-427-3036 or mdhoppis@hotmail.com . Dottie is a delight to chat with and a self-described “DO-er” and “eager learner” whose daily prayer always includes “Lord bless me so I can bless others”.
RALPH and SUE STURGEON were welcomed into membership on January 11th. The Sturgeons moved to Harrison five months ago from Fowler, a small farming community in SW Kansas. They were farmers (now retired) and members of the Christian Church - where Ralph served as a Deacon. They credit Jerry Pledger as the reason they're with us now. The Sturgeons have already joined the Fountain of Life class, of course, and "their" seats in our Traditional Sanctuary are at the East end of the last pew in the section in front of the sound booth. Stop by and say "Hello" next Sunday, or "give 'em a holler" at 870-420-3181, or an email greeting at srsturgeon@ritternet.com. |
